Matthew Godsil has been a life long resident of Ohio, born in Columbus in 1961, and has been a high school art teacher and football coach in Mansfield, Ohio since 1983. Matt studied at the School of Fine Arts at Bowling Green State University, as well as the Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati, and Marygrove College. His work includes oils, watercolors, etchings and graphite on paper and prints from those originals. He currently resides in North Central Ohio, while spending much time painting and traveling with his wife Karen of 35 years, back & forth through the mountains of West Virginia, Virginia to see their 6 grandchildren.

As light falls across a textured surface at certain angles, the character of both the light and the land are revealed in sublimity. The joy is in having the experience pass through the eye, the mind, the heart, and the hand [...]
