Artist Mary Wier

An example of fine art by Mary Wier

Photo of Mary Wier

I am a financial planner in Birmingham, Alabama.  As much as I enjoy helping my clients, I do find this profession can be stressful at times.  Some people relieve stress by exercising while others golf, garden, cook, read or drink.  Me? I paint and have been doing so off-and-on for about 10 years.  Painting clears my mind, energizes me, and feeds my soul.
I am most fortunate to have taken workshops from some extremely accomplished artists:
Jo Ann Williams Walker, my friend and kind mentor, whose work is represented internationally
David Nichols, whose sharp eye, gentle direction, and easy smile kept me painting
Diane McCrary and Guido Fricke, both students of Sergei Bongart
Carol Carmichael, Barbara Davis, Dreama Tolle Perry, Roger Dale Brown, Terry Strictland and Julie Ford Oliver -- all extremely fine artists and patient teachers
I am currently privileged to be studying with Diane Hathcock who is working hard to help me "loosen up" my paintings.
I continue to appreciate the freely-given advice of my brother, Jim Wier, who studied under Henry Hensche, the Egli's, and, for many years, with Dick Goetz.
I am a representational painter who loves the colors of life.
