Margaret Zylla is best known for mural size oil paintings in the Representational Realism style. She is self-taught through studying Master’s including Caravaggio and Bloch. Margaret reintroduces Classical Realism in service of the spiritual depth of man with fresh inter and intra personal perspective.
Margaret also studies iconography with Cecilia Aquallo of the Prosopon School of Iconography, Denver Colorado.
Beauty of the Sacred fuels her inspiration. Subjects are often saints, angels and Christ in their ‘near to earth’ existence. Mediums and techniques mastered include acrylics, air brush, screen printing, pen and ink.
As founder of the Sacred Oils Studio and Gallery Margaret provides portrait commissions, framing services, private and group lessons, liturgical consultation, statuary restoration and gallery events.
Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine featured her representation of the ‘The Incredulity of St Thomas’ by Caravaggio. She was awarded ‘Best of Show’ from The Religious Academy of Denver Bible Art Tour. Margaret also delivered a 'Visiting Artist’ presentation on Caravaggio for The Religious Academy of Denver. She is a member of Oil Painters of America and the Catholic Art Guild. Her work has been accepted in the National Greeley Art Exhibit Shows.
Margaret's work is known internationally. She is formally from St Cloud, Minnesota and now lives and paints in Henderson, Colorado, where she lives with her husband and son.
A current painting commission is a mural for the Church of St. Augustine’s Brighton Colorado titled “City of God”, and she is currently creating a Retablo featuring Saint Junipero Serra
