Gosh -- what to say, this feels like a blind date.  I'm a Gemini who loves butterflies and puppies and anything pink. Ummm.........I don't think so. The truth is I'm happy that you decided to visit my website because I love creating art and I want to share my work you. I am a Sacramento artist art instructor. I've been painting for over 15 years. I started out as a watercolor purist, and now I also enjoy acrylics, collage, altered books, and small sculpture. My inspirations can come from a great photo in a magazine to a crooked old tree to a fragile dream fragment. I love the creepy and bizarre, the magic of fantasy and possibility, and the surprise that comes with creating. When I start a new project, I rarely know what the end result will be. I'm attracted to bold, vibrant colors as you will see in many of my paintings. I love the surprise that paint can produce as it flows onto the paper or canvas, mixing and interacting with other colors. When unexpected results appear, it helps me loosen up and "go with the flow". I often start with random splashes of color and merging hues, and then find the 'story' in the paint. I am owned by two teenage boys who play a TON of baseball. When they were little, they were always asking me to make Storm Trooper belts or aviator helmets and guns (duct tape was a household necessity). While they were in elementary school, I shared my love and knowledge of art by volunteering with the San Juan Schools Art Docent Program. Currently, most of my sons' creative pursuits involve skate board decks and spray paint. When I'm not car-pooing my boys and their pals, my days are spent teaching at my beautiful studio -- [...]
