Biography


My paintings of abstracted landscapes, as well as my more abstracted pieces, evoke the powerful emotional reactions that aspects of nature stir within me. These are honest peeks into my inner relationship with the world, filled with color and endless joy. My process is a passionate trial of color placement, color relationships, light effects, introspection, form and pattern manipulation, and textural play. I believe art is a manifestation of love and my goal for my work is to spread love.
 
A native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I began painting lessons as a shy yet spirited child studying in Provincetown, Ma. I received formal training at L’Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Beaux Arts in Paris, France; The Art Institute Boston; and Boston University. Some teachers with whom I studied that influenced the development of my work in color and light were Lois Griffel at The Cape Cod School of Art, Wolf Kahn at the Santa Fe Institute of Fine Arts, Janet Fish in NYC.
 
Early in my career I concentrated on murals and tromp l'oeil painting, working with teenagers creating murals funded by local art agencies and grants, and I work as an art teacher in public and private education for over 40 years. I now work full time in my home studio. I facilitate "Artists Trips," taking artists to paint on locations nationally and internationally. Presently, my two yearly Artist Trips are "Painting In Tuscany, Italy" and "Painting In New Mexico," in which I organize and facilitate these two trips each year for small groups of artists who want to paint in different locations in the world.
