My father, who was a painter himself, introduced me to oil painting in 1967 when I was nine years old. He enrolled me in art classes with Philip Stein, a painter of Mexican style murals who worked under the name “Estano”. I painted with Mr. Stein for about two years in his studio barn in River Vale, New Jersey. This was the beginning of a lifelong appreciation for art. This spark lay dormant until many years later, when my husband and I began to collect oil paintings and attend auctions at the Salmagundi Club in New York City, the oldest art club in the U.S. dedicated to the promotion of representational  painting and the support of artists. My husband and Salmagundi painter Carole Teller both encouraged me to begin painting again.
Since 2016 I have been painting in my home studio, outdoors and under the guidance of  artist Cesar Jerez. Mr. Jerez has taught me to see the world through the eyes of an artist and how to interpret that world in a beautiful way on canvas,  developing a style that is uniquely my own. My favorite subjects to paint are still life and landscape. I love the brilliant colors and buttery texture of oil paint and strive in my work to capture the beauty that is inherent in nature and in the common objects of everyday life.
My palette is the “prismatic palette” used by Frank Vincent DuMond, an American painter born in 1865 and trained in the rigorous classical atelier tradition of 19th century art instruction. DuMond understood that light is not white, but rather contains a rainbow of brilliant colors.
