Artist LuAnn Widergren

An example of fine art by LuAnn Widergren

Photo of LuAnn Widergren

LuAnn Widergren, from a very early age, has worked to capture the beauty of nature through painting.  A Wisconsin native, she grew up with summers boating on the Wisconsin rivers and lakes.  Now residing in Florida, she is still drawn to the beauty of the landscape and seascape. She dedicated herself to a career in art education, as a teacher and art director, building quality art programs in schools, with a BS and MS in Art Education, and an Ed.S. in School Leadership. In the last few years, she has dedicated her time to painting and taking opportunities to study plein air painting with Joseph McGurl, Joe Paquet, and Cory Wright.
Painting at the beach or a pier is one of her favorites, working to capture the light and experience with realism.  She is drawn to dramatic cloud formations, old boats, and scenes of children exploring at the beach.  Nearly all her studio work is based on plein air sketches.  LuAnn has been described by instructors as a rare talent and her work is able to stand the test of time.  When LuAnn is not painting at an easel, she may be working on commissions, teaching oil painting, or at the dog beach with husband, Jerry and puppy, Sadie.
