Lois Gordon Ehrin
Lois Gordon Ehrin was born into a family of artists and musicians.  At age 8 she was selected to attend Saturday art classes for gifted children at Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Museum.  She continued study in these Carnegie endowed classes through her junior and senior high school classes at Carnegie Mellon University.  Another budding young artist attending these classes at the same time was Andy Warhol. received an undergraduate degree in Art Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Further study at the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University earned her a Master of Education degree.  She later received an MFA degree from Arcadia University.  During these years she traveled extensively with her concert touring pianist husband, Mel Ehrin. earned teaching experience at Carnegie Museum, Honolulu Academy of Art, The University of Rochester and York College.  She later taught and served as Art Administrator and Art Department Chairman in the Abington, Pennsylvania school district.  During those years she was actively involved rearing a young artist daughter, Leslie.  Her community service included serving as color consultant and Art collector for Abington Township’s renovation of the children’s and Adult Library.  She completed a commission to paint Abington’s cultural centers as a gift to the Bulgarian government.  Another commission to design a 6 x 8 foot needlepoint tapestry encompassing the 250 year history of Abington’s Presbyterian Church was completed.  She continued jurying art exhibits, taught in Abington and Wayne Art Centers and Senior Art Communities. photography and painting travel with her husband included U.S. National Parks, the British Isles, Canada and Sweden.  A year long painting sabbatical included several months in France, painting at Monet’s water gardens in Giverney Normandy, and travel and painting in the French impressionist’s favorite places from Provence’s lavender and sunflower fields to Collioure, a colorful fishing [...]
