I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and worked in the fashion business for twenty-five years. As a stylist and editor-in-chief I learned about color, value, shape, line and texture. My first artwork was pressed flower collages. The flowers were grown from seed in my own gardens. My petal portraits led to commissions of real people.A love of the sea inspired me to press seaweed and create seaweed collages, whimsical in nature.Gradually I introduced other elements and now most of my work includes acrylics and colored inks. My collages are filled with color and texture.  If you look closely, you may discover a rose petal, or a scrap of frayed cotton printed with Chinese characters.I have had one-woman shows in Madison and Clinton, and tent shows in Mystic Village, Old Saybrook, Milford, Madison and Clinton Landing. I gave a two day seaweed art presentation and workshop at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Mass.  In 2013,  I was invited to design an artist's palette for the Florence Griswold Museum's Christmas tree.
Recently I have designed a line of one of a kind pressed flower and sterling silver earrings, available from my Etsy shop:https:www.etsy.com/shop/lisabethsflowers
I am an elected artist in the Essex Art Association and a member of the Clinton Art Society and Madison Art Society. I am also a member of the International Pressed Flower Society, based in Japan, the World Wide Pressed Flower Guild, the Women's Caucus for Art, Pen and Brush, Inc. and National Collage Society, Inc.I teach pressed flower and pressed seaweed art workshops and give presentations at the Guilford Art Center, local and out of state garden clubs, museums and arboretums. My art is in private collections in the US and Europe.
