An example of fine art by Linda Waldschmidt

After years of owning and showing horses and raising my three lovely daughters, I turned my attention to painting.  There were plenty of models to paint; dogs, horses, cats and chickens.   My goal is to  make the observer feel that they are looking at a living representation of the animal and that is why I paint the eyes right away.  Animals are amazing, especially horses and dogs.
Painting portraits was my first love but landscape painting is my pleasure as well.  Living in the beautiful Hudson River Valley of Upstate New York, an artist cannot possibly resist the urge to paint The View.  After two years of instruction with my very generous mentor Thomas Locker, I learned to paint the beautiful scenery in the style of the Hudson River School whose founder was Catskill's own Thomas Cole.
