The Artist Says:

I am always thinking about the next painting and the problem solving it will entail to capture the image to my liking. I welcome the challenges and limitations of the materials that I use to depict light in my landscapes, life to the animals I paint and mystery to my still life paintings.

Biography

“As a painter, light is what attracts me the most to a landscape composition and capturing that light on canvas is the big challenge. Diffused understory light adds mystery to paintings and bright dancing light hitting the open prairie make for a sense of elation. The contrast of values is so important to making the light appear natural.”

Linda's painting style has developed from personal exploration and noteworthy workshops with nationally known artists. Landscape is her primary interest, oils and acrylics are her mediums, and she is particularly fond of the woodlands of southern Indiana, the Great Plains of the Midwest, and the Grand Canyon, which she depicts in her light filled landscapes. Rural life, wildlife, horses and pets are also subjects she enjoys painting. In 2006 Linda began volunteering her time to provide art programs for both children and adults. Since then she has been organizing opportunities such as professional artist workshops, summer art camps for children, and regional art shows to promote area artists. Currently she is the President of the Harrison County Arts! Inc. board, which gives her the opportunity to continue artist promotion and bring learning opportunities to the children, and adults, of Harrison County and surrounding communities.
