An example of fine art by Linda Sherman

Photo of Linda Sherman

Her childhood experiences while exploring the countryside on horseback and later adventures running the roads and trails of Flagstaff have inspired her landscapes and western scenes. Splitting time between Colorado and Arizona has given her a feel for the high mountains of Colorado as well as the red rock country of Arizona.  Next to painting, her favorite activity is hiking, including the 14,000+ foot peaks of Colorado.  She and her husband Kent now have a summer home in Colorado, and spend winters in Flagstaff, Az.
Many pleasant hours are spent hiking in the Sedona area.
What Linda found herself attracted to in her western environment was the strong contrasts between light and shadow. Not surprisingly, her paintings have a western flair and are well sprinkled with horses, cattle and cowboys. Her art reflects her environment. Her watercolors are quite effective in portraying the atmospheric lighting of Northern Arizona.  Her award winning paintings have accumulated over the years.  Her latest achievement was being juried into the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies annual show.  The Western Fed includes ten western states and  is  a large and prestigious exhibition.
