The Artist Says:

Linda was born in Chicago but raised in the suburbs.  As a teenager she found she was drawn to art.  Early on she discovered watercolor and began painting realistic paintings.  She had easy access to the art museums and galleries in Chicago which helped influence her work.

After completing her Bachelor and Master degrees in art education her art focus transitioned to the spontaneous and expressive, meditative, simplistic art form of Chinese brush painting.  She was intrigued by the concept embedded in this form that "less is more".  She went on to receive a Certificate of Completion of Chinese brush painting from the Art Farm Gallery in Lexington, Virginia.  The idea of expressiveness in Chinese brush painting prompted Linda to attend and receive a Facilitators Certificate from the Expressive Arts Institute at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island.

Retiring from a 25 year career as an elementary art educator she began exploring new art forms with a focus on the abstract - enlarging her scope to oil painting, collage and print making.  Incorporating intuitive expressiveness in her abstract work is now her main focus.

Linda currently resides in Woodstock, New York.  She currently teaches Chinese brush painting workshops at various venues on the east coast.

SHOW

Linda has had solo shows at Orange County Community College, the Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union and most recently at the Arts Society of Kingston,  In addition, she has exhibited at Lev Shalem, Woodstock Artist Association and Museum, Kleinart-James Gallery of the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, the Woodstock School of Art and at the Emerge Gallery in Saugerties.

Biography

Linda was born in Chicago but raised in the suburbs.  As a teenager she found she was drawn to art.  Early on she discovered watercolor and began painting realistically.  She had easy access to the art museums and galleries in Chicago which helped influence her work and further her passion for expression.

After completing her Bachelor and Master degrees in art education, her art focus transitioned to the spontaneous and expressive, meditative, simplistic art form of Chinese brush painting.  She was intrigued by the concept embedded in this form that "less is more".  She studied Chinese brush painting under the tutelage of Professor I-Hsiung Ju at The Art Farm Gallery in Lexington, Virginia.  Linda also studied under Leigh Wen and Professors Han and Wong in China.  The idea of the expressiveness in Chinese brush painting prompted Linda to become certified as a Facilitator at the Expressive Arts Institute at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island.

Retiring from a 25 year career as an art educator she began exploring new art forms with a focus on the abstract - enlarging her scope to include oil painting, collage and print making.  Incorporating intuitive expressiveness in her abstract work is now her main focus.  With this in mind, Linda studied and painted in many countries seeking the inspiration that different terrains and cultures would bring her.  Her work done in France, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, Cuba, China, Japan, and many other locations all speak of Linda's ability to capture awe and majesty.

Linda currently resides in Woodstock, New York where she teaches Chinese brush painting workshops at various venues on the east coast.
