The Artist Says:

My photo is of me in my favorite places, Mineral King, CA.  We have a cabin there which has been in the family since 1923.  Many of my paintings have been done of this beautiful place as well as in this beautiful place  where I can relax and create.  I used to do a lot of back-backing but age and a failing back have kept me closer to home.  My favorite medium is oil and most of my works are done with a palettte knife which is a challenge but it gives such wonderful textures that make you feel as though you are there.  I mostly paint landscapes but I am happy doing anything I love.  Our view from our ranch home gives me lots of inspiration.

Biography

ARTIST BIO
LINDA HENGST
I am a city girl turned country and enjoy every moment of living on a farm. Bob and I used to raise Holstein replacement heifers, which I miss. Now we are  growing delicious plums, oranges and pomegranates.  The cattle lands are now leased out but remain a source of delight for viewing, photographing and painting.  Extensive hikes and backpacking out of Mineral King and other parts of California have given source to many of the palette knife oil paintings I am known to produce. My husband of 56 years and I have traveled extensively in the last few years taking many pictures which inspire me as subject matter. There is hardly any medium I haven’t tried with most realistic but occasionally spontaneous abstract.  Producing art after raising three children, and seeing some amazing talent in our nine grand-children is a great delight. I am a member of the Porterville Art Association, Main Gallery Artists, Tulare Palette Club, the Arts Consortium, and Art's Visalia. My art  can be seen at the Porterville Art Studio and various businesses in Visalia.  I have been honored to be  a "Featured Artist" in Porterville, Visalia, Exeter and Tulare.  Due to the Corona Virus, there is a hold on some things I would be doing, but no excuse for not painting during this pause in life.
