Biography


Linda Eades Blackburn was born in Nashville, Tennessee where she grew up and attended Harris School of Advertising Art.  After completing the 4 year course for Illustration, she had various jobs in the commercial art field. These included being a paste up and negative stripping artist for a printing company,  illustrating shoes for GENESCO, a major manufacturer and distributor of shoes, to being Assistant Art Director for CPS Industries, one of the largest manufacturers of gift wrap at that time,located in Franklin, Tennessee.   Ocala Florida was her home for 20 years before moving to Crystal River.  While in Ocala she worked for Conimar Corp doing Product Illustration, then taught watercolor classes and freelanced until opening her Studio/Gallery in the Historic District of Crystal River. There she began painting local wildlife and scenery and started to focus more on portraits.  This is also where she became interested in painting a Civil War Series.After living in Crystal River 9 years, Linda returned to her home Studio in Ocala.  There she could work uninterrupted and continues to work on portraits of people and animals and her Civil War Series. Painting mostly in Oils, Linda also works in Watercolor, Pencil and Pastels and enjoys a variety of subjects including Landscapes, Abstracts and Wildlife.  Her diversity comes from many years of working in both commercial and fine art fields.Linda has won numerous awards in shows, and has also had several solo shows. Some of her freelance clients include Cape Shore, Red Farms, Paper Magic Group, INC., Barton Cotton, Tuttle Press, General Mills, and Signature Brands. She did extensive work on Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears Licensed properties, creating many new designs for her client.Greatly honored by being selected to paint the Rt. Hon.
