The southeast is home for Leah True Salerno.  Born in Frankfort, KY in 1960 and landing in Chattanooga, TN in 1990.  Surrounded by mountains and waterways, there is always inspiration for painting.  She and her artist husband, Dave, often enjoy traveling to The Forgotten Coast.
Until retiring from cardiac nursing, Leah had no thought of painting.  With persistent encouragement from Dave, she eventually painted her first oil sketch in November 2014.   Since that first simple still life painting, she has immersed herself in art.  Leah primarily takes classes at Townsend Atelier in Chattanooga from renowned local and international artists.  She also enjoys reading art literature and watching art videos.
Leah is a realist oil painter, exploring all genres.  Capturing intimate moments on canvas is her favorite theme.  She often employs the painting knife to keep her paintings loose and add texture.  Her style continues to emerge as she studies with different artists.  Shore birds have captivated Leah's attention both on Lake Chickamauga and the Forgotten Coast.
Leah is represented by River’s Edge Gallery in Apalachicola, FL.
“Art offers me a new vision.  It is the fulfillment of a dream that I didn’t realize was possible.”
