An example of fine art by Lana Tyler

Photo of Lana Tyler

Art has always come naturally to Lana Tyler, just as her love of animals has.  She was drawing horses and other animals even before starting grade school.  While growing up in Northwest Indiana, horses were her favorite subjects.  Her parents could not afford a horse, so Lana settled for constantly drawing them, even in class, much to the chagrin of her teachers.  Lana took art classes throughout her first twelve years of school.  High school art classes introduced her to oils and pen and ink, which quickly became her favorite mediums along with pencil.  After high school, Lana's love of animals and the outdoors took her to Purdue University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry with a major in Wildlife Management.  This career path took her all over the US working for every major land management agency in the Federal government.  During this time, she observed native wildlife in their natural environment and amassed a large inventory of reference photos.  She recently retired from the US Forest Service to follow her dream of being an artist.Lana's favorite subjects are still the animals she loves, especially horses and wildlife.   Lana has been in shows throughout Colorado including Fort Collins and Denver.  She has also been juried into many national and international shows.
