Kristin Stashenko is a painter who works in acrylic and gouache, an opaque watercolor. She resides in Medfield, MA with her scientist husband, Phil. Initially, Kristin worked in research after graduating from Northeastern with a Masters in Biology. When her two children were small, Stashenko fulfilled a dream and went to Mass College of Art and Design. "I loved every minute of it even though I was often completing assignments at 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning!" After completing her degree, Kristin did freelance illustration in the greeting card and gift industry for fifteen years, producing 2-3 designs per week. Stashenko decided to transition to fine art painting. "Designing images to suit the card industry was repetitive. It was difficult to express my artistic voice."
To that end, Stashenko now paints what pleases her. She is well known for her graphic architectural landscapes in gouache on paper and her larger work on canvas in acrylic. Stashenko is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the New England Watercolor Society, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society and an artist member of the Copley Society. She has been in many prestigious, international shows throughout the country.
The artist's work can be found in many private and corporate collections. Stashenko shows her work at the Blue Heron Gallery in Wellfleet, MA and the Copley Society of Art in Boston, MA. Her studio is at Holliston Mill, 24 Water Street, Holliston, MA.
