The Artist Says:

Just as music is to praise God, my artwork is to illustrate the unspoken beauty of His creation.



Known for her paintings of orchid flowers from the S. Robert Weltz Collection at The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens -Kitty Shih was born in Taipei, Taiwan and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii with her family during high school.  Painting has been her passion since her early teens, as she opted out of a piano lesson and urged her mother to send her to a private painting class instead.  Her artistic talent was recognized by her teachers at a young age, but it soon became apparent in her college days that her dream of becoming an artist would have to be put on hold for a while when she pursued a career in engineering.  She graduated from the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.  She then earned a Master of Science degree in structural engineering from Stanford University in California.
She entered a career in public service as an engineer in Los Angeles, California.  Her love for arts continued to kindle while working in the world of steel and concrete.   Driven by the desire to pursue her dream one day, she once attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena at night and was commissioned a few graphic design projects for private companies.
Upon her career change in 2012, she had immersed herself in painting  with one goal in mind: to heighten the glory of God through the paintings of the beauty of His creations.  Being an avid orchid grower at home for over 15 years, she has the privilege of painting the exquisite orchid flowers from the world-renowned S. Robert Weltz Collection at The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens.  Her paintings were exhibited with several of their award winning orchids at various orchid shows in California.
