I am a Colorado Native!  I grew up in Estes Park--the Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Four generations after my great-grandmother and her brother homesteaded part of the Estes Valley, I started art lessons and painted my first oil painting at age 5.  Blessed with stunning views from my living room window, I would draw Long's Peak, Mt. Meeker and other mountain scenes.  Despite my love for art, my high school art teacher and I didn't seem to meet 'eye-to-eye' and mixed with some lack of confidence in the thought of an art career not being able to provide for my basic needs, I entered college and finished with a business degree in marketing.
Thankfully, as a successful sales and marketing professional provided me with the know-how and ability to turn my focus back to art.  So how could I start a new career?  For me it was not taking college art classes.  I tried but the fast-track for me was to take classes and workshops from places like the Art Student’s League of Denver and more intense studies with some of the West’s most notable landscape artists.  I studied with Jim Wilcox, Jay Moore and others.  Their beautiful style of capturing landscapes are not only breath-taking but award-winning and housed in some of the finest public and private collections.
You will see a variety in my work.  Raising children, managing a household and occasionally putting work into other business ventures has left me with bursts of creative ideas.  I paint what I love--skiing, horses, mountains, lakes, colors, textures.  For me, Picasso had it right--moving in and out of various styles.  Everything depends on my interest in a subject and my mood.  Landscapes want me to include detail.  However, I love the adventure of an abstract painting too!
