Artist Kimberly Young

An example of fine art by Kimberly Young

Photo of Kimberly Young

Kim began her hobby (at first) as an adult.  Her medium of choice is oils, and at the start, she began with Plaster of Paris molds using oils; she worked diligently, refining her talent.  Over time, even her husband couldn’t help noticing their home full of statues…it was at that time he suggested she shift her focus to canvas painting. Thus, this artist was born, and a new journey unfurled.  Kim works in various media studying still lifes, florals, portraiture, landscape and animals. She has had the privilege of studying in Italy and through-out the United States. When Kim isn’t holding a paintbrush, she can be found delving into many adventures including motorcycle & horseback riding, traveling and camping. While at home, she loves caring for one very spoiled dachshund, in addition to her mule and horse, and all alongside her beloved husband (not necessarily in that order, it depends upon the day). After years in the real estate industry, Kim has found that perfect situation that allows her to find more in her life.  She has spent several years helping handicapped individuals find freedom through equine therapy, and currently holds the position of Treasurer on the board of a 501-C3 Therapeutic Riding Center.
Her work is in private collections throughout the United States and in the Bowlus Fine Arts Center in Iola, Kanas.

Artist Statement
I am passionate about my art, finding peace and joy in my artistry. I love the feel and texture of oils and thrive in telling the story visually, whether a still life, portrait, floral, landscape or presentation of wild life. Light and shadow are my intrigue, and I love to create a piece that holds both in balance, exploring a bit with a little edginess. Expression in painting is truly one of my great loves.
