Biography

Oil and watercolors, drawings and sketches

I have been drawing and painting for most of my life.  My first commissioned work was at 10 years old when I painted cattails on 3 panels for a bedroom screen and was paid $5.00.  "Wow, get paid for what I like to do!"  I have tried to build on that ever since.

My Journey:
I was with the Peace Corps in Borneo, in Western Samoa, and in Hawai'i.  Travels across the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Islands of the Pacific have yielded numerous plein air paintings and drawings.  In the early 1960s I spent a year hitch hiking around Europe --working at a ski resort in the Bavarian Alps, crewing on trans-oceanic yachts, and painting on the sidewalks of Paris and Munich.

Teaching:
As an Instructor assisting Betty Edwards in her International Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain Seminars, I fell in love with teaching Dr. Edwards methods for giving people of all ages the ability to draw.  I was an Art [...]
