I am an Alexandria, Virginia abstract artist. I specialize in mixed media abstract floral, figurative, landscape paintings, geometrical designs and collages. I use a variety of mediums and techniques including watercolor, acrylic paint, acrylic and alcohol ink, graphite pencils, markers, marking tools, sand and eggshells. I primarily paint on wood panels, cradle board, canvas, Yupo paper and watercolor paper. My work is influenced by Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Wassily Kandinsky, and Georgia O’Keeffe.
I’m a very creative person and my love for art began as a child when I created a self-portrait using my mother’s makeup. I also loved the Paint-by-Number oil painting kits that my parents purchased for me as a child. When I was in Junior High School I entered into a very competitive contest to design a cover for our Junior High School annual. I was elated when my drawing was selected and published. After graduating from high school as an art major, I continued my art journey as a Fine Arts major at the University of Tennessee. Although my post college career evolved into Contracts and International Trade Compliance working for a major defense contractor, I continued to develop my art skills further by taking numerous art classes, courses and workshops. In the interim, I studied under the direction of T.C. Whitson, and many accomplished art instructors at the Alexandria Art League and through the Fine Artist Summit. I also completed Nicholas Wilton’s 12 week in-depth Art2Life painting course, and am a member of the Art2Life Academy based in Sausalito, California.  For a number of years, I also made sand sculptures and copper enameled jewelry, and sold my creations at art fairs and to retail stores.
