The Artist Says:

Artist Statement Kathleen Klein Wakefield
I am drawn to damaged, forgotten, and over looked, objects and images. Whether pages from beat up old, out-dated manuals and books or plastic packaging, the item it contained and displayed, long gone.
Passage of time is also a part of the subject as these materials and images often give nod to methods and technologies that are disappearing or are gone.
My experience with graphic advertising and surface design; sculpture and painting also play a large part in subject and techniques.
There is much enjoyment in working with these types of materials.  Many technical challenges unfold in the process of getting these materials together. I am enamored with the layers and the reflections that are often created in the process. It feels sometimes that new ideas and directions start to open up and reveal themselves and cannot be ignored. Inside the forms and lines, movement starts to lead to the next step in each collage. Beautiful accidents appear within the materials. Regularly, each one becomes an irresistible puzzle.
