Personal Statement 
I have loved art and painting for as long as I can remember. However, life, marriage, children (now grown) sidetracked any action I considered to develop my interest and skills. Once my children became adults, I carved out the time to start and took some classes to help me get on my path as an artist. At that time and for a short time following, I worked almost exclusively in pastels and acrylics. Roughly 11 years ago I found my medium, watercolor and haven’t looked back. I find watercolor an exciting medium and I use a variety of techniques in each painting.
Subjects and Interests 
I continue to grow in my art and refine my style.  I paint flowers, water and nature reveling in the extraordinary colors and hues.  I love painting architecture, both old and new. People who have seen my work have commented that it is calming and serene.
In the spring of 2013, I discovered plein air painting, which added a whole new dimension to my painting experience.  It’s exciting in a different way…faster and always changing.  Shadows constantly change and there is always movement.  The same location can look so different depending on the time of day and the weather, which can add to the challenge.  All of that adds into making it interesting, special, fun, exciting and always different.  
My latest passion is portrait work.  Not only do I love painting family members and others, I am proud to be one of the artists  in the Painting Syria's Children: The Refugee Portrait Project.  This project is a group of artists that have a traveling show and a Facebook page,  and raise money through painting portraits of refugee children.  All of the artists donate their talent and materials painting photos of children in refugee camps.  When the [...]
