An example of fine art by Kath Freeman

Welcome to my website. My name is Kath Freeman and I live just outside Waterville, Co Kerry.  I was raised in Galway and after spending 36 years in the UK as a nurse and midwife I moved back to Ireland in 2016.
I had never painted up until that time and when an opportunity arose to to take some art classes with Leo Quinlan, a local artist, I grabbed it with both hands. I started with landscapes and was very pleased with my early results. At the end of each class we turned our mixing pallets into abstract paintings and I was hooked!
I started painting abstracts at home and loved the way the colours mixed and forms appeared. While I continued to paint some landscapes and local scenes my true love of abstract of abstract style painting came to the fore. I work mainly in acrylics on canvas and use a variety of paint applications from pouring to working with pallet knives to swiping with cards. When I set out to paint I use the colours that appeal to me on that day and these are often replicated in nature in the countryside around me. Once a painting is completed I often rotate it through 360 degrees and with each orientation see different images appearing out of the canvas. Essentially I get four different pictures out of one canvas!
I have painted several commissioned pieces where particular colours were requested to match the mood and decor of customers homes.
I am happy to answer any questions about my art and please do not hesitate to contact me via email [email protected]
