Hello, I'm Katherine. I was born and raised St. Petersburg, Florida, have lived in several states and several countries, and have finally come to rest in central Kentucky. I work primarily in oil. My work is informed by my faith journey, my family, my training, a sense of place developed through 20 moves, and the farm where my husband Barry and I now live. I have many interests, including beekeeping, woodworking, gardening, bow hunting and conservation. I believe the wide study and enjoyment of these give me an intimate knowledge of my subjects that brings life to my paintings. My academic training is in scientific and medical illustration, with a degree in Scientific Illustration from the University of Georgia and a Masters in Medical Illustration from University of Michigan. After seven children, 18 years as missionaries,  nine years of living abroad across three continents, and over 20 years of homeschooling, my husband and I now enjoy, farm, steward and conserve 175 Kentucky acres and a rogue's gallery of critters. I'm also honored to work and teach as one of three Artists in Residence at the Art Center of the Bluegrass in Danville, Kentucky.
