I am a "contemporary, postwar painter", according to my listing in Morgan O'Dricoll's Auction which sold some of my pieces in 2018. I was born and raised in Ireland where I trained as a doctor and came to Maryland in 1973 for post-graduate education. I practiced as a public health physician for the State of Maryland until my retirement in 2008. I was introduced to oil painting in James Adkins evening classes in the ‘90s, and after retirement,  studied under Peter Collier and others at Howard Community College, availing of five study abroad trips to paint in France. I organized a painting trip to Ireland for Peter and his students in 2018. I believe that art education never ends so I am enrolled at Maryland Institute College of Art with Professor Duane Lutsko. I paint in oils, usually from direct observation, and love to paint plein air. My landscapes, still life and portraits have been exhibited in numerous invitational and juried art exhibitions including one in 2016 at University College Cork, Ireland where I studied medicine.
I held three successful fundraiser art sales for Grassroots of Howard County and sold work at fundraisers for The Artist Gallery in Frederick, Church of the Resurrection, Ellicott City and the Howard County Conservancy.  I sold work at Mat about You Gallery in Ellicott City until they closed in 2019 and at various exhibitions, including At the Top Gallery in Mill Valley, California in 2019.
I have a studio in Ellicott City which is named Sheebeen Busy (after a remark by a visitor), but also paint landscapes locally and while traveling. I have painted in Ireland, France, Slovenia, Scotland, Portugal and the Netherlands and in various locations in the USA.
