Katherine S. Erickson moved to Lansing, Michigan in 2006 and currently resides there. Katherine earned her Bachelors of Arts from Doane College with dual majors, Human Relations and Public Administrations. She returned to Doane College and earned a second degree in Commercial Art. Katherine received her Master of Fine Arts at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, California.

Katherine’s focus is in representational art. She works primarily in oil paint, and also makes use of oil pastels, charcoal, pen & ink and color pencil. Katherine is a member of the Mid Michigan Art Guild.
Katherine is a recipient of the Chris Clark Fellowship 2019-2020 from the Arts Council of Greater Lansing. With this grant, she attended the 2019 Portrait Sketch in Oil workshop with instructor Craig Pursley at the InView Center for the Arts at the Landgrove Inn, Landgrove VT.
Katherine is currently serving on the Art Committee for the Michigan 8th Congressional District and was a judge for the 2019, 2020 and 2021 Congressional High School Art Competition for the Michigan 8th Congressional District.
Katherine attended a fifteen week entrepreneur course with the Entrepreneur Institute of Mid Michigan. She feels that each freelance artist is also a small business owner and needs to know business practices as well as artistic practices.  
Katherine has served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves for thirty-seven years and retired at the rank of lieutenant colonel. She feels it is important to serve her nation and her contribution to the nation’s defense keeps her grounded.
