Born in Kyoto, Japan, June discovered her love for painting at an early age. Growing up in traditional Japanese culture (including a family-run Kimono business), June developed a strong appreciation of colors and composition, which she now uses in her paintings today.
Becoming an artist has always been her goal and dream. After she moved to the United States because of her husband’s job,  she joined the Decorative Painting Society where she took many painting workshops and learned various styles of painting techniques.
Oil is the medium she has found to be the most rewarding and challenging. Her favorites are floral and still life, but she also enjoys landscapes and pallet knife paintings. Her paintings are greatly influenced by the 17th century Dutch Old Masters and combines European influences with her Japanese heritage. June pursues contemporary still lifes with classical technique and realism. Luminous colors, light & shadow techniques, and exquisite details are the key elements to her works.
She started teaching oil painting in 1995 at her home studio as well as a local art shop. She also teaches at the annual National Convention of the Society of Decorative Painters. June has received several awards and recognition:

Certified Decorative Artist Award in 1998
Master Decorative Award in 2014
White House Christmas Ornament Collection in 2004
Decorative Art Museum in Wichita in 2007.
Published in the the Decorative Artist Magazine 2017.
3rd in The Decorative Art Show in 2018
2nd in La Jolla Artist Guild Juried Show in 2015

She currently resides in San Diego and while she is not at easel, she enjoys knitting and playing golf. She also practice Japanese Tea ceremony and enjoys reading zen books.
