An example of fine art by Julien Byrne

Being largely self-taught, supplemented  by courses from master glass makers, I  began working in stained glass in 2003 in a small studio in the historic district of Pass Christian, Mississippi.
In 2014, the studio moved to Rabbit Trace, an idyllic setting in the country among the live oaks, tall pine trees and creatures of the Gulf Coast coastal plain. Here not only is work space increased, but the type of work produced has expanded...and I have the pleasure of watching the natural world outside my studio window.
While artwork is still, and will always be produced one project at a time, it now includes flat-panel windows and Craftsmen lamps as the primary focus of my  interpretation of native flora and fauna.
I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with very talented artists in Phil Myer, who produces beautiful quarter sawn oak lamp structures; Don Scott, who crafts custom framing out of fine, sustainable woods; and  Brenda Henderson, an English artist who contributes bespoke hand painted and fired rondels that I use in some of my best work.
In my studio I use only American-produced hand-rolled and hand-blown stained glass from studios such as Youghiogheny, Oceana, Bullseye, Fremont, and Kokomo. American glass is generally regarded as the best in the world...even European glass artists use this glass. It is simply incomparable.
Whether it's the use of hand-rolled glass, carefully crafted lamp structures, custom framing or hand-painted rondels, my motto remains the same....Everything the Best!
I have partnered with, and am on the board of directors of Tired Dog Rescue, a 501(c)3 charity, and all profits from my work go toward its good works in animal rescue.
If you don't see the lamp or window you want on my website, feel free to send me your ideas as to color, design and materials for a lamp/panel/window you would like.
