Artist Julia Keelty

An example of fine art by Julia Keelty

Photo of Julia Keelty

Keelty received a BFA from the College of Visual and Preforming Arts, Syracuse University in 1982. After working in advertising and marketing for over 25 years, she went back to her first love, fine art.

Keelty graduated from the Schuler School of Fine Arts, where she received classical training in anatomy and portraiture as well as her favorite genres, still life and landscape.  While comfortable with many materials, Keelty is most passionate about oil and sculpture.  Her mentor, Ann Schuler, taught Keelty to embrace Classical Realism, hand grinding pigments and painting with Maroger medium, in order to achieve powerful, contrastive results. Keelty's expressive work posesses luminousity and depth, which is characteristic of the old masters, while still exuding a conteporary freshness.
Keelty works and exhibits in Maryland and Bermuda. Her pieces are in private collections and businesses throughout Maryland, Delaware, Illinois and Massachusetts. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America. Email [email protected] with any inquiries.
