Artist Judy Usavage

An example of fine art by Judy Usavage

Photo of Judy Usavage

Judy Usavage has been painting since moving to SW Florida in 1980 with time off to raise a family. She presently belongs to Cape Coral Art League, showing there regularly and winning with show stoppers. She has been in national shows and art leagues throughout the area. Every week she paints with a group of friends at a different location in Lee County and exhibiting all of the group's efforts on Facebook under Lee Plein Air which she posts. Equally versatile with acrylic and oil she demonstrates her passion for color, mood and intensity in her paintings. Some  of them come quickly and easily and others are labored over during an expanse of time. "Very rarely do I discard a painting, choosing to find a way to maximize what has already been created. I guess it is the same attitude I have towards plants, always trying to revive nearly dead ones to their former glory."  While most subjects are given a try, still life does not excite her that much. "I'd rather be out in the element, "even though the heat almost took her down one summer! Art unifies people all across the globe and is an everending source of joy, as well as an exercise in patience, decision making, and just plain WORK. But Judy firmly believes that art is a necessary luxury and is glad to be part of the art scene.
