Artist Judy Stein

An example of fine art by Judy Stein

Photo of Judy Stein

Judy Stein is a Pennsylvania artist working in a picturesque river town studio.  Her subjects are mostly imagined landscapes, inspired by a deep sensitivity to the natural world.  Oil is her medium of choice, although some paintings include encaustics or acrylics.  Her palette is high key, bold colors or even black and white, with the emphasis on value range and elements of design. On occasion, she paints figures and landscapes in a more realistic style. Training in classical realism gave her the nuts and bolts to evolve as a painter.
For 20 years her creative energy was directed to freelance interior design and photography, which surely informed her painting compositions and color choices.
"There is freedom and joy in painting expressively. It excites me to create a place that may exist...somewhere in the universe."
