Artist Joy O'Keeffe

An example of fine art by Joy O'Keeffe

“ Now living on the South Shore of Massachusetts, I was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. Both of my parents were artists, and although I didn’t pick up a brush until 2005, their influence and appreciation for art was significant and lasting. After raising four daughters and recently retiring from a 36 year career as a dentist, I can now focus on my passion for painting full time.
Spending school months in rural Pennsylvania and summers in Woods Hole, Cape Cod, I developed a reverence for the splendor of the mountains and all the beauty New England has to offer. I strive to pay tribute to this natural beauty in my landscapes.
Painting  has truly transformed how I visually perceive my surroundings. I am constantly looking for new ways of expression and am dedicated to studying art, artists, and the practice of translating color, light and atmosphere and mood onto canvas.  While my style has been mostly representational, I am exploring my recent fascination with abstraction and the correlation between the two.
It is an on-going, emotional, humbling, exhilarating and sometimes painful process --one to which I am fully committed. “
