An example of fine art by Joyce Zeller

Photo of Joyce Zeller

Since she was a child, Joyce has always been interested in faces and the people behind them. As early as twelve years old she was drawing portraits of family and friends. Sometimes though, life takes many twists. Instead of a career in art as planned, Joyce became an adjunct professor at The Fashion Institute of Technology, teaching a course in entrepreneurship. While teaching she opened a clothing and shoe boutique in New Jersey and New York that she ran for many years. To keep her hand in art she did her own advertising and window displays but soon became bored with retail and was anxious to get back to her love of painting and drawing.
Since selling her business twenty years ago, she has attended The Art Students League, The National Academy of Design and The New York Academy School studying with different distinguished artists to keep fresh.
Joyce’s first love is portraiture. She has been fortunate to have been asked to paint four Federal Court Judges of the Southern District of New York. Her latest portrait of the 81st US Attorney General  Michael Mukasey will be hanging in the Justice Department in Washington DC. Other important commissions include her portrait of Dr. Cynthia Starr which hangs in The Dr. Starr Breast Cancer Center in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, New Jersey and her portraits of the Headmasters of the French American School in Mamaroneck, New York.  Joyce also enjoys painting families and animals. She strives to paint them in their best light and to bring out the individual qualities of their personality that makes them unique.
