An example of fine art by joyce sloan

Always drawing and creating as a child Joyce found her way to a degree in Fine Art and post graduate work in Art Therapy.  After school, she worked in Graphic Design and Advertising which taught her about seeing through the eyes of others.  Shortly after getting married she started a mural business and a family at the same time.  This gave her a respect for efficiency and time management which lasts to this day.  After moving to Montana, she worked as a Visual Merchandising Director in the retail space and developed a love for 3-D design.
Since coming back home to Portland she has turned to impressionistic landscapes and approachable abstracts.
Many Artists that influence her are from the mid-century Abstract Expressionism movement.
But there are too many creative geniuses through the years to just name a few.
My Approach:
It is instinctive and immediate.  The energy either comes through or it doesn’t. Standing at a canvas, noodling the paint to death, begging for the Muse to show up never works.
When I create, It feels like I take a deep breath, walk to the edge of a cliff and know it’s time to dive off and I can paint - or not.  In which case I turn around and do something to shift my energy then come back later.  It is almost like there is a current of something very pleasant, something that feels right.  It is only a feeling, a very good feeling.
