An example of fine art by JOSEPH SIDEBOTHAM

Joseph W. “Jay” Sidebotham (b.1947-d.2013)
Joseph W. "Jay" Sidebotham studied architecture at the University of Illinois, Champaign, College of Dupage [formerly known as Lyons Township Junior College] and at the University of Kentucky, Lexington.  After becoming disillusioned with computer usage in architecture, he changed majors to fine arts in painting.
“I paint hard-edged geometric color field graphics using acrylic on canvas or linen.  Being “old school”, I believe that after releasing colored images from my mind and having committed them to canvas or other medium, if further explanation is required, then I have not done my job.”
Jay has shown in group shows at Purdue University in May of 1970, University of Kentucky in December of 1970 and at the Peaceful Zen Gallery, with his son, Harry W. Sidebotham, in Chicago in February 2010.  Jay is a member of the La Grange Art League and has his work showing in their gallery in downtown La Grange, IL.
Now retired and devoting his time to his art, Jay is producing a large body of work.  He is looking forward to having more shows.
