Self Portrait

We do not escape into philosophy, psychology, and art--we go there to restore our shattered selves into whole ones.
Anaïs Nin

Okonek studied with several prominent painters and teachers over a period of twenty years.  He left his career with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 2011 to pursue painting full time after delivering the landing radar to the Mars Curiosity Rover Project.  He has exhibited his work in New York, Oregon and Hawai’i.
Joseph lives and works near Roseburg, Oregon.
