An example of fine art by Jonathan Busse

Photo of Jonathan Busse

Jonathan Busse was born in Arizona and moved to Hawaii in 1965. He grew up in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii within walking distance to the beach, where he spent as much time as possible. He attended UH Manoa and received his Masters of Fine Arts degree in 1985. He worked as an artist, painting local landscapes in acrylic, oil, and watercolor, strongly influenced by his fascination with the ocean.
Jonathan began attending classes with Professor and well-known artist, Snowden Hodges at Windward Community College in 2001. Snowden graciously offered his insights concerning drawing, painting, and perhaps most significantly, maroger medium and the application of sound technical materials and techniques regarding the longevity of a completed painting. He then accepted a position as lecturer at Windward Community College and began teaching in 2003 and continues there as an art lecturer on a part-time basis.
Jonathan has been involved in numerous shows in Honolulu, including The Japanese Chamber of Commerce, The Contemporary Art Museum, and The Honolulu Museum of Art. His work appears in multiple collections that include The State Art Museum, The Persus Collection, Kaiser Permanente, The Hemmeter Corporation, and Servco Pacific
