Biography    JoAnn Swearingen paints in watercolor, oil, and pastel. She lived for a few years in Iowa, but she is a native Kansan who lives near Newton, KS. Her interest in art expression began at an early age. As an adult, she refined her talent for composition by working as a photojournalist and in graphic design. Her art captures the beauty and sense of peace found in nature. “Nature can’t be duplicated, but through my paintings, I want to share the beauty I see around us that God has created.” She holds a Master of Arts degree from Wichita (KS) State University. Her education in painting and graphic design continued with workshops and seminars by nationally and internationally recognized artists. C.W. Mundy, Albert Handell, Anita West, Richard Schmid, Elizabeth Pruitt, Jean Chambers, Still Life; and Hugh Greer, perspective. In addition, she painted for six years with Kandy Tate before the artist relocated to Santa Fe, NM. Her work is exhibited in galleries and private collections. Artist Statement "I paint representational impressions of landscapes. I feel a connection to the outdoors--the wind in the clouds; nature’s changing moods; the interplay of light and shadows. I feel a deep satisfaction when others relate to my paintings. I know then I have captured the subject's essence and shared a special moment." Galleries and Highlights of Her Accomplishments
