Growing up just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the 1970s and 80s, Painter JoAnn Moy pursued a variety of artistic endeavors. This path eventually led her to study fine art and design at Drexel University, where in 1995, she earned a degree in graphic design. While there, she reveled in the culture and art Philadelphia offered.
After many years as an Art Director, JoAnn began to feel the creative lure back to fine art, specifically painting, and she began showing her work at various local venues. JoAnn splits her focus between creating abstract figures representing human emotion and impressionistic landscapes. She has dubbed her collection of abstract figure work Abstract Humanity and creates them with acrylic paint and some collage. Her landscapes are generally done in oil.
A number of JoAnn’s abstract figure paintings were featured in Outsider Art Magazine’s blog in 2019. Earlier in 2019, she was awarded multiple special recognition awards from Light, Space and Time’s online art gallery. Another online gallery, Colors of Humanity, included JoAnn’s landscape work. 2020 brought multiple sales for JoAnn when she began her tenure as Resident Artist at Green Wolf 4010 Gallery in Skippack, Pennsylvania. Also at 4010, JoAnn is the Exhibit Manager for the Perkiomen Valley Art Center Group Art Show. JoAnn is also a member of Studio B in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, Perkiomen Valley Art Center and North Penn Art Alliance.
