Jo Ann Goodman is an artist who resides in rural Minnesota.  She developed a love and appreciation for art in her early years, and is grateful for parents that encouraged her to paint during her high school years - purchasing oil painting materials and allowing her the freedom to create.  She is also indebted to a special art teacher who planted the vision for participation in the arts during those high school years.
Her formal education includes a  BA in Art from the University of Wisconsin as well as a BS in Art Education from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.  This path led her into an art teaching career which was the perfect place to share her love for nature as well as art history, and especially drawing and painting.  Each day was like going to the easel of the student to celebrate their creativity and their appreciation of the elements and principles of design.
Recent retirement has allowed Jo Ann to explore the disciplines of drawing and painting with greater depth.  She receives inspiration from the simple beauty in nature, the beauty of light bouncing from a surface, the direction of lines in trees, the shapes created by light and shadow.  What a privilege to discover the subtle nuances in a subject never before realized.  Other influences come from the master artists Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Paul Cezanne, Claude Monet, and Andrew Wyeth to mention a few.  This journey is a lifelong endeavor of learning as well as a profound appreciation of God's wonderful creation.
