I love creating. When I am making something, I am happy. Art is my passion, but if I am not painting, I am baking or taking photos, or teaching my granddaughter to bake or paint.
In my work I strive to convey the light across a meadow or marsh, or a sunset streaking through the woods across the fresh snow. I also love painting the beach or waves and surf. Anything to do with water or water and rocks. I love painting portraits or sketching them in Charcoal, a favorite medium along with pastel, oil, and watercolor. I love trying new mediums and am always learning new techniques. I do not like being put in a box or category. I also love combining mediums: watercolors or an oil wash under pastels; a monoprint of acrylic under pastels; cold wax medium mixed into my oils. I will try anything once, usually twice or three times.
I love taking workshops and classes with artists who have different techniques than I do. I'm always looking to add more flavor to my art so these new techniques help me learn different ways of expressing myself.
I hope you enjoy my art and find something you love. That is my primary goal. Making people happy through my art!
I was recently juried into the Pastel Society of America as an associate member. And my painting From the Creek was juried into a national show on Cape Cod for the PPSCC show For Patelís Only 2019. [...]
