Artist Jim Kuykendall

An example of fine art by Jim Kuykendall

Photo of Jim Kuykendall

Jim is a native Texan having been born in Ft. Worth and raised in East Texas.  He started college to become an art teacher but left when he realized art teachers didn't make much in the 70's.  He put his artwork away for a career on the railroad.  He retired after 38 years in railroad management.  He started painting in watercolors in 2003 while recovering from a car accident and hasn't looked back!   He paints landscapes and the people in them.  His western heritage draws him to that lifestyle.  He loves the places, the people, and God's creation.
Jim believes that "iron sharpens iron" and has been fortunate to have studied under and mentored by A. J. Schexnayder, and Tom LaRock, as well as having attended many workshops with Steve Quiller, Ian Stewart, Michael Holter, and others. He paints in watercolor, acrylic, and oils.
Personally, Jim has a BA in Organizational Management, MS in Management, and a MA in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation.  He is very active in the community, the arts, and church.  Jim is married to JJ and they have two daughters and 5 grandchildren.   They live in the Conroe, Texas area.
