Photo of Jill Spear

Jill M Spear was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1959. She received her BFA from Middle Tennessee State University in 1993. Additionally, Spear studied fine arts for 4 years at Bowling Green State University in Ohio beginning in 1977.
Spear has exhibited in the U.S. including “Driven to Abstraction, An Alternate View—Another Language” in 2005 at the Hagnauer Gallery in Manitou Springs, Colorado as well as the 2004 Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibit at the Foothills Art Center in Golden, Colorado and the International Watermedia Exhibitions in Colorado Springs in 2001 and 2007. In 2002, Spear had her first one woman exhibit “Destination” and lectured at The University Gallery at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio.
During a recent and extended hiatus from studio art, Spear has had opportunities to spend time with her grandchildren, travel, study the figure, participate in the production of a mosaic mural in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and to participate as a member of Eric Bransby’s Color Lab team, mixing pigment for the Fine Arts Center’s 75th Anniversary mural in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Spear lives with her cat, Lucy in Colorado Springs, Colorado in a turn of the century house and works in her recently secured garden level studio on the “West Side” in a 1902 Schoolhouse near the foot of Pikes Peak.
