Biography
My inspiration has always been nature. I began my artistic journey as an adult with no formal training by trying to capture the color, mood and movement of nature in oils. I then began to take workshops and classes. After exploring oils for a couple of years I began doing watercolor which is an adventurous medium that lends itself to many surprises but also captures the beautiful colors of nature in a very fresh, inspiring way. I’ve begun to explore oils again by painting en plein air with palette knives instead of brushes which lends itself to an impressionistic style of painting. My creative quest is to continually challenge myself and to keep exploring!!
My work has been shown at Bellport Lane Art Gallery, Wyndotte Gallery, Mellenium Gallery & Priscilla Roe Gallery in NY and Cary Gallery of Artists in NC and I’ve won awards from the National League of American Pen Women, East slip Arts Council, North Shore Arts Council, Wet Paints Studio Group & The Fine Arts League of Cary.
I love teaching and have led classes and retreats in Creative Exploration and Watercolor classes for the Town of Cary & privately.
“Creating art has been a life force for me. It has enabled me to observe, contemplate
and expand. I could not be the person I am today without the constant challenge that it
provides. It has afforded me sanity in a sometimes insane world, insight when
confused, comfort when in pain, and joy in the discoveries along the way. Most
importantly, the doing of art has encouraged me to personally grow throughout my life’s journey.”
