Artist Jaquita Ball

An example of fine art by Jaquita Ball

Photo of Jaquita Ball

Jaquita likes to say her best artist statement about herself is “Paint in my hair, paint on my feet!”  She initially studied art at the University of Arkansas, earning a BA in Studio Art and Journalism. She has spent a large portion of her life as a senior executive in graphic arts, advertising, marketing and public relations, and non-profit foundation management, while still maintaining a career as a fine artist. Later, she honed her curating experience by completing a degree in Gallery Management in Santa Fe, New Mexico.         Ball primarily works out of Bentonville, Arkansas, with a downtown art studio (Red Cat Art) and marketing services to visual artists, all the while licensing her art through HOWSE and curating exhibitions for various businesses and galleries.  Ball doesn't limit hr studio practice to just Arkansas; she has a constant need to explore and find new locales for inspiration, which means she could be "on the road" at any given time!  Proficient in landscape, figure and portrait subjects, plus wild and domesticated creatures, Jaquita utilizes traditional painting techniques in a decidedly contemporary, abstract, or fauvist style. While her subject matter remains timeless, she favors dramatic and yet intimate compositions.

Jaquita worked several years as a news and courtroom artist, reporter/newswriter and assistant promotion manager at Little Rock's KARK-TV, where she earned a national reputation when many of her court sketches of high profile cases aired nationally on NBC Nightly News.  In most recent years, in addition to her fine art and marketing career, she has served as a curator, juror and art critic for exhibitions in New Mexico and Arkansas.
Ball organizes exhibitions for artists, curating and advising for clients such as the Gallery at Midtown Associates-Bentonville, I’Mindful Studio-Bentonville, IO Metro-Fayetteville, IO Metro-Rogers, NuArt Gallery of Santa Fe (internship), Zephyr Blevins [...]
