Artist Jan Johansen

An example of fine art by Jan Johansen

"University of Art - whether you register early or late, you will never graduate." (author unknown)    This is my favorite quote.  Even after many many  years of painting every piece is a new beginning - a new subject or feel for the subject. A different day.  A different mood.  A new challenge.
I'm a former elementary teacher.  Originally from North Dakota, I've lived most of my life in Minnesota.  I found my passion for art in the mid sixties, eventually earning a masters in art education.  My paintings are about what interests me. The western stuff?  I fell in love with Montana and the western art scene many years ago.  More about that and other things in "other stuff".
