Janis Eaglesham is west coast artist with prairie roots who enjoys a quiet life on five wooded acres in Maple Ridge, BC. She expresses her love of nature through her landscapes, which invoke a sense of solitude, purity, and regeneration. Her acclaimed figurative work is rich, haunting, and nostalgic, inspired by both her childhood on the prairies and a veneration of feminine beauty.
Janis studied Drawing and Design at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), Fine Arts at Langara College (Vancouver), and earned a diploma in Painting and Printmaking at Fraser Valley College (Abbotsford). She has also attended numerous workshops with Michael Bingham, Michael Albrechtson, Paul Chizik, Suzanne Northcott, Ron Hedrick, Thomas Anfield, Carolyn Anderson, Mike Svob, Brent Heighton and most recently, Kevin Beilfuss, Barry Rafuse, Ingrid Christensen.
She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and was presented with an award of excellence by the Fraser Valley chapter in 2004. She is a founding member of the Stave Falls Artist Group. She received an outstanding achievement award for "Reclining Nude" from the Federation of Canadian Artists FVC in 2014.
